In 2017 I made my first two ‘Art Throws’ interpreting my illustrations into woven tapestries and the results were so exciting! A Jungle Tiger and a House Plants design that were super limited edition at just 12 of each and sold out to my surprise and relief within a few months!
In 2018 I really wanted to launch a new range of throws but it took some time to develop designs that I was happy with and that felt new and exciting. Next sampling, negotiating minimums and communicating with my supplier in the US took some time as I made changes to the colours as it’s a fairly unpredictable process which involves crossing your fingers! As a returning customer they wanted to double my quantities which was quite scary. I ended up negotiating down to 18 pieces each of three designs; a Tibetan Tiger, Forbidden Fruit & The Boss Throw. Drawing each design specifically for a woven blanket but pulling elements from new illustrations in my collection.
I was so happy to finally launch the three new designs in November 2018 just in the nick of time for Christmas but with all the markets and events I only had my very basic photographs of the products which just wasn’t doing them justice. So in February I decided to commission Kayti Peschke to take some lifestyle photographs for me as I knew that in her hands the designs would come to life!
Well Kayti exceeded my expectations and I’m over the moon with the results and will definitely be outsourcing photography to her in the future as I’m over the moon with the results! There’s a few of each design still in the shop but do get your skates on as they are limited editions!
